Native Americans in The Coastal Plains
There were 2 Culture Groups in the Coastal Plains -- Gulf Culture & Southeastern Culture.
Within those 2 Culture Groups, there were 3 Native American Tribes --
Karankawas, Coahuiltecans & Caddos.
Gulf Culture: Karankawa & Coahuiltecan
Food/Gathering Techniques: The Karankawas & Coahuiltecans fished, farmed and hunted. They were superb hunters, fisherman, warriors and archery experts. They were a powerful enemy to anyone wishing to take their prime hunting grounds away. Homes: They lived in portable homes, like teepees or wigwams, that were easy to put up and take down as they followed their food sources. Lifestyle: The Karankawas & Coahuiltecans were nomadic and traveled between the islands and bays in dugout canoes made from large trees. They ate fish, clams, oysters, lobsters, turtles, roots, berries, and deer. Customs:
